It’s so much fun to see all your listings, wonderful businesses, and messages of inspiration. In addition to The Wealthy Spirit daily screensaver of affirmations, message boards to share support and advice, and directories for you to advertise your services, we have special bonuses each month. Things have been booming this fall! Last month, I announced the release of Jack Canfield’s new book, You’ve Got to Read This Book, in which I am honored to have a story. I was quoted in the Business Section of the Los Angeles Times, have spoken at a number of organizations, done book signings, and been on several radio shows. Because of all this activity, our web site got 112,000 hits last month! Since Dolphin Club members’ listings are visible to visitors, I am sure this should result in more business for all of us. Hooray!

The Spider at the Gate

Each night, the little spider at my front gate works busily, weaving his web to catch his morning breakfast. He is diligent and hard-working, he studied design and construction, and he makes a fine web.

But very morning, I break his web apart as I pass through to collect my morning newspaper. I’m sure the spider sees the destruction and whines, “Why does this always happen to me? I work as hard as any other spider I know. I’m so unlucky! It’s not fair!”

The spider in at my gate isn’t unlucky – he has just chosen the wrong location for his business. Apparently, he didn’t have the advice of a good real estate agent who could have told him the three most important rules: Location, location, location!

Other spiders chose the right real estate, but then just sit there and chant, “I’m catching lots of flies, I’m catching lots of flies…” But they don’t build a web to catch them, so all the flies just zoom on by. Then they complain, “Those silly affirmations never work!”

Like spiders, we all have blind spots that keep us from attaining our goals, from having all the clients we want, and from making all the money we desire. We need teachers, mentors, and trainers to help us see the holes in our programs, devise the remedies to fix them, and practice our new choices until they become our new habits.

We know we need to learn, but we resist. “It costs too much!” we complain. “It takes too long!” “I’m too overwhelmed, it’s too far to drive, I have small children, my parents need help…” And we sit by our webs in the wrong location or chant affirmations without any web and wonder why we don’t have any money or why our dreams haven’t come true.

Get into a workshop! Sign up for a class! Hire a coach, join a mastermind group, get into therapy. Buy books on sales, marketing, self-esteem, metaphysics, personal empowerment. Take some action to learn something new so you can get new results. Help is all around you – reach out and take it! Invest your time, invest your money, and you will reap the rewards you crave. You invested time and money in learning the skills of your profession, didn’t you? You didn’t make it up from scratch. So invest some time and money in learning how to apply them so that your business is successful. You deserve it!

CHIP CHATTER POKER NEWS:

Yippee! I went down to the Bicycle Club Casino in Bell Gardens August 31st, and sat down in favorite $6-12 Omaha game (like Texas Hold'em but with each player dealt 4 cards instead of 2, and the high hand splits the pot with the low hand).

I hadn't been playing but a half hour when I was dealt 2-7-10-10 - a bad hand, but with the jackpot in effect if you have 4 eights or better beaten, I want to see a flop (first 3 community cards the dealer "flops" onto the board) with any big pair larger than eights.

Sure enough, the flop is 10-10-8 and I was first to act. Yowza, I have 4 tens! I checked meekly, because I want all the other players to stay in and try and make a hand that will beat me. Everybody checked (of course they did - nobody else had any tens!)

The turn card (the fourth card on the board the dealer turns up) was a six of hearts. I bet this time, and three people called. The last card was another six - the six of diamonds, which made a straight flush possible, as the 8 and 10 of diamonds were also on the board. So if someone held the 7 and 9 of diamonds in their hand, they would have a straight flush.

Well that's exactly what happened. I bet the river (the last bet after all five cards are dealt on the board) and a woman raised me. I reraised her and she reraised me again. Whoo hoo! The whole table knew what that meant and started whispering “jackpot!”...the energy was electric! I called and she turned over her cards and announced her straight flush. The other players looked at me hopefully. I shouted "Four tens" and everyone stood up and started screaming! Everyone at the table had won money, because the bad beat jackpot gets split this way: 50% of the money in the jackpot goes to the person who got beat (me) 25% to the person who had the winning hand (the gal with the straight flush) and the other 25% gets split amongst all the other players in the hand. So it was a group win!

How much? Well the total money in the jackpot pool was $23,600. So I got $11,800, and I was a very happy camper!

What to do with the money? I got $10,000 in a check and put it in my savings account. I kept $900 cash for me to have fun with, and I gave $900 away - tipped the dealer, tipped the staff, tipped the waitress, etc. It's so much fun to share money!
