On a Blue Day

Buddha by Gayle Etcheverry

282 – October 9

“You must learn from the mistakes of others. You can’t possibly live long enough to make them all yourself.”—Sam Levenson

I was feeling sad and vulnerable on Monday. But I had an appointment, so I went to the dentist to get my teeth cleaned.

“Oops,” the dental hygienist said. “I don’t like the look of these two teeth. I’m going to call the doctor.” I never like it when dental professionals or airplane pilots say “Oops.”

Dr. Neil McLeod, a wonderfully kind man and terrific dentist, peered into my mouth and said, “We need to take some x-rays of these teeth.”

I smiled gently back at him. “Okay,” I said. “But not today.”

“Why?” he asked curiously. “It won’t take but a minute, and if the cost is an issue, we can make payment arrangements.”

“It’s not that,” I assured him. “I’m just feeling a bit blue today. If there’s nothing wrong with my teeth, then the x-rays won’t matter. If there is something wrong, I just can’t handle it today. I’ll come back another day, when I’m stronger.”

On a blue day, keep all bad news at bay. You may not be able to choose the news, but often, you can choose the timing.

Today’s Affirmation:
“I overcome all challenges—when I’m good and ready!”

Buddha by Gayle Etcheverry

I think this philosophy works on a tired day, too. I’ve been working really hard lately, publicizing my next teleclass, making “Gold Calls” to interested participants, writing emails for my list, writing my daily blogs, Facebooking, Tweeting, etc.

But some days, although there’s always more work to do, more people to call, another email to write…I just take a break. I relax, I limber up, I meditate. There will always be tomorrow in which to carry on the work. But today, there is just today, with chirping birds in the backyard, friends and family to play with, a life to enjoy.

Always take time to create a life while creating a living.

Prosperity is a habit. You have to practice it every day.
